Facilities Manager Working Hours
Facilities managers are expected to work around 40 hours a week typically from 9 am until 5 pm. However, in some cases, you may be expected to work extra hours, this may be when there is an emergency that needs to be dealt with urgently. The role is usually office-based but there may be times when travelling is required, particularly if the job role is based in a large multi-site company in different areas of the country.

Qualifications Needed for a Job in Facilities Management

To be a facilities manager requires a number of different skills in order to work successfully. You need to be able to develop good working relationships with a wide range of people. You will also need to be well organised and have excellent spoken and written communication skills, as well as customer and client management skills.
Facilities managers need to have the ability to manage a varied and complex workload and also have technical knowledge of building services, and as you will be responsible for a budget, you will need to be able to control efficiently and manage it and have the ability to make decisions quickly. Problem-solving is an essential skill as there will be times when things don’t go to plan and skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) are also recommended.
