Home to the world’s largest population, China’s international influence is increasing due to rapid economic growth.
As China continues to grow, the research environment within Chinese universities will play a pivotal role in determining the country’s trajectory in being a successful, high-income economy. As a result, there has been an increase of focus surrounding STEM research in higher education institutions.
China now boasts the largest number of laboratory scientists of any country, and its research and development spending outstrips that of the EU. This increased investment within higher education and research has led to a proliferation of scientific publications. In 2018, Elsevier reported that China had overtaken the US as the world’s largest producer of scientific research papers by volume and that the country’s citation index was leading in certain disciplines including materials science, chemistry and engineering.
China’s determination to transition from a manufacturing-based economy to an innovation-driven, knowledge-based economy has created many opportunities within higher education unique to anywhere else in the world.
Our webinar mini-series will be made up of the following individual webinars, to ensure that the information provided is as helpful and relevant as possible. Find out more and register now to secure your place.
