Refuse collector, social worker and teacher? They all have completely different roles in separate working environments, but they are all council workers. Finding a home isn’t easy, especially you’ve got personal circumstances making it difficult. But nothing is more satisfying then knowing you’ve finally got a roof over your head. Social work may not be the best paid industry and you may not always get a ‘thank you’ at the end of the day – especially when difficult decisions have to be made. As the world’s fourth largest employer, the NHS is more than just doctors, nurses and paramedics. In fact, the organisation can offer you an enormous range of opportunities. Whether you’re looking for the satisfaction of helping the public, or you’re just sick of making money for a bunch of faceless shareholders, working for the NHS could be a smart career move.
It’s a tough job and the starting pay is nothing to write home about yet, for many, being a care assistant is the most rewarding job going.
